Name

Should I change the name of this blog that only I follow to: Fotos Taken While ...? I've been taking a lot more photos than eating at food trucks. Although, don't worry, I'm still eating a lot.

I have my sights set on a photographer that I would like to offer my serves to. I want to be an assistant, for free, when I have time. This photographer and I have mutual friends on facebook (real friends not unknown facebook friends). It would be mutually beneficial as the photog would get a slave and I would get to learn while working at a shoot. The photog does a lot of portrait and set shots. I am more into capturing a moment and not setting something up. But I know I would learn if my offer is accepted.

I was thinking the other day about photography. About how I am currently into shooting telephone poles, wires, palm trees and clouds. I love that stuff. For some reason I thought it was funny that if I had to describe my interests for a fake upcoming show, I could do it pretentiously and say: I love the juxtaposition of nature and industry, how they are forced to live together in the same space and time. When really, I just like palm trees and power lines.

Anyway, another blog for myself, that I have no interest in sharing.

Recent Photo off my office balcony.

I have no business doing a blog. I am a sloppy typist. I regularly have typos in everything I type. I rarely catch the typos, in fact, I rarely proof read.

I was going to start this blog as a food truck diary ... Food Truck World or Food Truck Weekly, I forgot now. but that's where the FTW comes from.

Now I'm thinking about posting photographs here, but I have a flickr page where people can view any photos and franky, I'm not that proud of my photos yet, so I'm not sure they are ready to be viewed.

Photo-wise, I've been more successful with my iphone than my Nikon. i love the images I've captured with my iPhone. Seriously.

First Post

I have to be honest, I started this blog because I accidentally came up with a name that I liked for it ... F. T. W. Food Truck World, not to be mistaken with Fuck the World. I do not think or myself as a writer or really with anything interesting to say, I'm definitely not a "foodie" as I am way too picky of an eater to be one.

I claim to dislike TOMATOES, ONIONS, PEPPERS and all foods green. The one thing I can say is this: Sarah introduced me to my first food truck ... KOGI BBQ, and I've been chasing trucks ever since.

I was definitely skeptical when we arrived at the pre-tweeted location for the Kogi truck in the city of Orange. When we got there, there had to be 50 people in line a head of us AND NO TRUCK! I almost felt like cheering when the truck arrived, then, I started feeling like a dork, waiting in line for this food-fad-truck that was supposed to be so great. Plus, I'm sure I was the oldest person in line ... kids in their teens and twenties with their noses buried in their mine's-cooler-than-yours-phones, piercings everywhere and funny haircuts. I think we ordered one of everything on the menus. i know we got tacos (short rib, chicken, spicy pork), Sarah got a quesedilla, I think I got a hot dog with kimchi ... I KNOW I was eating things listed on my above dislike list, I'm sure of it. But i powered through and really enjoyed the food. I even think it was worth the wait. the wait for the truck's arrival, the wait in line, the wait to get our food after ordering ... The whole thing, it was worth it.
